November is Mizrahi Heritage Month, which celebrates the cultures and contributions of Mizrahi Jews, who trace their origins to the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia. This year, we will learn about “Beta Israel,” also known as Ethiopian Jews. This Jewish community lived for centuries in the Kingdom of Aksum and the Ethiopian Empire, which is currently divided between the modern-day Amhara and Tigray regions of Ethiopia. We will host Yonatan, who will share his own story as an Israeli-Jewish Ethiopian Jew, and we will enjoy traditional Ethiopian food!
