Sarita Bronstein
Executive Director
Sarita Bronstein is a passionate leader profoundly committed to Israel advocacy and the promulgation of Jewish life.
She has been active in the Mid-Peninsula Jewish Community for over twenty years. Sarita served as an Executive Officer on the Board of Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School and Kehillah Jewish High School. She was a founder of the Gideon Hausner’s Middle School, Kehillah Jewish High School, and Shalhevet (Teens Program to Poland & Israel).
A Wexner Heritage Foundation Alumni, she holds a B.A. degree in Psychology and a Masters' Degree in Mass Communications and Public Relations, with the specific purpose of serving Israel.
She was the College and Career Center’s Coordinator at Gunn High School. Sarita served as the Director of the Israel Travel Initiative and Israel @ 60 Mission at the Israel Center of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco.
Sarita was fully responsible for initiating and establishing the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces' new chapter in the San Francisco Bay area. Sarita was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia.
Mitch Reitman
Assistant Director
As Assistant Director, Mitch Reitman is responsible for programming, fundraising, and administrative tasks here at Hillel of Silicon Valley.
Mitch’s career spans over 40 years as a Jewish communal professional, development officer and non-profit administrator. Mitch has worked in Jewish Community Federations, as an Executive Director at several Bay Area synagogues, as well as Regional Executive Director of United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and USY. Later, Mitch worked as Development Director for several notable non-profits in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Mitch holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from San Diego State University, and Master’s Degrees in Social Work from the University of Maryland and in Jewish Studies from Baltimore Hebrew University.
He lives in Foster City with his wife, Lisa. Together, they have two grown sons, Jeremy and Adam, and four grandchildren, Jordan, Noah, Aliyah, and Ayden.
Jill Schuster
Office Manager
We are delighted to welcome Jill Schuster to the Hillel of Silicon Valley team. Jill came to us after working for more than ten years for several CPA firms in Silicon Valley. Jill’s background includes several decades doing administrative work and office management.
Jill is happy to now be able to work in the Jewish community and reconnect with her Judaism. As a child, she was a camper at Camp Tawonga and was involved in BBYO as a teenager. She has been enjoying meeting our students, board, and community members.
Jill’s responsibilities at our Hillel will include payroll, bookkeeping, financial reports, human resources, and office management.
Jill and her husband, Michael, live in San Jose. She and Michael shoot professional fireworks shows as a hobby, and they enjoy vacationing in Hawaii. Together, they have four children, 11 grandchildren, and two cats named Scooter and Gabby.
Caleb Marcus
Program & Engagement Associate
Caleb is a teacher turned Jewish educator who cares about creating warm, pluralistic Jewish communities.
Growing up in New England, after graduating from University of Vermont, he went on to teach math at Gann Academy — a pluralistic Jewish school in the Boston area.
His passion for Jewish education led him to study at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem and participated in their Jewish Educators program.
Caleb lives in San Jose and is excited to check out the West Coast. He enjoys hiking, reading, music, learning, meditation, and trying new vegan recipes!
Ari Fridman
Director of Campus Advocacy
With a strong background in social work, non-profit work, and community advocacy, Ari is deeply committed to supporting student leadership, fostering inclusive campus spaces, and empowering the next generation to build meaningful connections within the Jewish community.
Having recently completed their undergraduate studies at San Francisco State University, Ari brings a fresh perspective on community building and student-centered advocacy.
Ari lives in San Mateo with his cat Dexter. Ari has several hobbies, including painting, professional fire performing, and dancing.
Aviv Geuli
Israel Fellow
A recent graduate with a degree in Social Work specializing in community practice, Aviv sees Shlichut as an opportunity to bring together her professional skills and personal commitment to Jewish community.
Her experience with Jewish communities abroad began in high school, when she hosted a participant from Córdoba, Argentina, and continued through Birthright-Taglit and several years working at Jewish summer camps in Miami and Los Angeles.
She served four years as a Security Supervisor at Ben Gurion Airport, where she supervised and trained teams and made operational decisions under pressure. She later worked as a Shift Manager and, while earning her Social Work degree, gained experience in community advocacy and supporting people from diverse backgrounds.
Phillip Nguy
Communications Coordinator
Phillip Nguy is an avid traveler with a passion for cinematography and exploring new cultures.
He stumbled upon our organization during his time at San Jose State University, where he obtained his BA in Philosophy and Environmental Studies. Since then, he has actively immersed himself in Jewish culture and has even traveled to Israel.
With a background in communication, software development, and content creation, we are excited to have Phillip join our team as our new Communications Coordinator.
